At a young age Arthur and his brother Grady, joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Seville, Fl. They were baptized together. While in his teens, he joined the church in Pierson, FL, where he served as a Junior Deacon and usher for several years. Later in his life he joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church again, and was ordained a Deacon under the pastoral leadership of Reverend James E.
