Obituary for Willie D. Miles

The Book of life for Deacon Emeritus Willie D. Miles was opened July 29, 1927, and he was the son of Tom Miles and May Pearl Flowers. Willie D was a brick mason, and began his Christian nurturing in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a member of Greater Union First Baptist church where he was an Usher, served on the Trustee Ministry, then became a Deacon faithfully serving on the Deacon’s Ministry. As a Deacon, Willie D continued the pattern of faithfulness, as he took on the responsibility of Leadership of a District and preparations of Communion and Baptism; including repairs and maintenance of the Baptism pool. Willie D’s Book of Life closed after God called his servant from labor to reward on July 24, 2019.

Willie D leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Charlene Gray Miles; children, Rose, Bessie (Mitchell), Samuel, Larry (Glenna), Kenneth (Denise), Michael (Marie), Lawanda Gale, Tyshawn (Daisy), Amadeo Sr., and Cowartiz (Craig). He also leaves behind his mother in law, sister in laws, brother in law, cousin (Johnnie Mae Miles), loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, loving friends, and his church family.
